Thursday, October 17 - Today, Austin, Texas based alt-rock band Culture Wars release “It Hurts” off of their upcoming debut album. The track comes alive with a jangly guitar and driving bassline you have to blast in your car, almost feeling addictively nostalgic. Recorded mostly at Sunset Sound Studiosin Los Angeles, the young group’s ambitious upcoming debut album is a disparate battle of passions, in the end making beautiful sonic peace.
Lead singer Alex Dugan shares “‘Sorry I feel like a friend’ - that line always reminded me of what it was like to get friend zoned in high school by your crush…but updated for my adult life. ‘It Hurts’ is about the intolerable drunk woman at the end of the bar at the Beverly Hills Hotel. Drunk, divorced, trying to maintain her lifestyle while looking for her next husband. She makes bad jokes, says unknowingly offensive things, and tries to smile her way through life doing the best she can, the only way she knows how.”
Made up of Alex Dugan, Caleb Contreras, Dillon Randolph, David Grayson and Josh Stirm, Culture Wars’ new hits “Heaven” (2.2M) and “Wasting My Time” have catapulted them into a thrilling new chapter bursting with raw and vibrant spirit. The infectious tracks combine the group’s penchant for lyrical depth with glossy pop-like hooks thanks to Alex Dugan’s soaring lead vocals.
