D'Addario CEO Jim D'Addario Honored At Hofstra University Gala For His Business Leadership And Extensive Philanthropy

The 19th annual Hofstra University Gala recently honored alumnus and Board of Trustee member James D'Addario '71, chairman and CEO of D'Addario & Company, Inc.

D'Addario, who graduated from Hofstra with a BA in Music, has built his family's business into one of the world's leading designers and manufacturers of musical strings and other instrument accessories. He was celebrated for his contributions to the region, and his extensive philanthropy to many worthy causes and organizations. At Hofstra, he has been a generous supporter of the D'Addario Music Business Endowed Scholarship and the D'Addario Community Music Appreciation Initiative.

The Hofstra Gala is the most prestigious event the University hosts each year and this year raised over $1.5 million in student scholarship funds with nearly 600 attendees.

In a speech at the Gala, Jim D'Addario commented on the importance of musiceducation and the impact that music has had on his own life both personally and professionally.  "Without my love and understanding of music which was nurtured at Hofstra, I am convinced my life would have been very, very different."
