Daniel Tashian has become a musical kindred spirit for artists like Kacey Musgraves (‘Golden Hour’ & 'star-crossed'), Burt Bacharach (‘Blue Umbrella') and many others and collected countless awards, including two GRAMMYs, in the process. On his new album ‘Night After Night’ (available everywhere today via Big Yellow Dog Music), Tashian rekindles the spark that set flame to his passion for music and award-winning career, writing nine songs with his childhood hero, esteemed guitarist and songwriter Paul Kennerley (Emmylou Harris’ “Born To Run”).

"'Night After Night' took several years to make," says Tashian. "It’s a collection of songs written by me and Paul Kennerley. I needed some good 3 chord jammers - songs that I could play at a backyard pool party or barbecue with impunity. Paul is the master of that. His groove is imbedded in these recordings, even though I’m playing, not him, I’m imitating his style of guitar strumming in hopes that it will become inextricably woven into mine. I think it has!"

‘Night After Night’ reaches “rockabilly nirvana” (MusicRow) from the get-go, kicking off with the title track, which was featured as the KUTX Song of the Day ahead of its release. Tashian carries on a pattern of stacked strumming guitars — six on each track — and relentless rhythms throughout nine songs, all born out of songwriting seances that summoned the spirits of Buddy Holly, Bo Diddley, The Everly Brothers and more into Tashian and Kennerley’s jam sessions; songs that were then meticulously crafted over a series of four sessions as the pair sweat over every lyrical and musical detail.

Tashian masters the art of balancing complex instrumentation with lyrical simplicity. With straight-forward, yet imaginative lyrics, each song was inspired by real-life moments — a spell with insomnia on “Night After Night,” a crying girl Kennerley noticed on “She’s Sad,” the desire to heal hurt from a bully on “Somebody’s Thinking About You.” Tashian produced the entire record with help from Buddy Miller (baritone guitar and octave mandolin), Russ Pahl (pedal steel) and Sarah Buxton (vocals) offering beautiful touches throughout.

Tashian participated in SiriusXM Outlaw Country’s Americana’s Most Wanted Guitar Pull last Friday (9.16) alongside Tommy McLain, Gabe Lee and Kaitlin Butts, performed a Songwriter Session at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s Ford Theater last Saturday (9.17) as part of its AmericanaFest events, and performed a full-band album release show at The Basement in Nashville earlier this week.
