Delbert McClinton To Receive Lifetime Achievement Award For Performance At 2019 Americana Awards

New Album Tall, Dark, And Handsome Debuted At #1 On Billboard Blues Chart Earlier This Month

The Americana Music Association recently announced that Delbert McClinton will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance.  McClinton will receive the award and perform at the 2019 Americana Honors and Awards on September 11, at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.

With over 60 years of recording and touring to his credit, McClinton is a true musical zelig: he toured with the Beatles, backed Bo Diddley and Howlin’ Wolf, helped to inspire The Blues Brothers, and performed everywhere from SNL to Austin City Limits (both multiple times) along the way. His songs have been covered by Buddy Guy, Bonnie Raitt, Garth Brooks, Vince Gill, Waylon Jennings, and Wynonna Judd - to name a few.

Last month Delbert released his new album Tall, Dark, and Handsome, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues charts last week, and was met with wide critical acclaim. The record’s first single “If I Hock My Guitar” was included in Rolling Stone’s list of Best Country and Americana Songs To Hear Now, and they wrote "It's not a stretch to say that McClinton, at 78, is making the best music of his career."

Delbert is currently on on an extensive U.S. tour that will continue into December.
