Downtown Music Publishing congratulates Kelly Archer, who won Rising Independent Songwriter of the Year last night at the 2017 AIMP Nashville Awards, as well as their partners Big Yellow Dog Music, who won Publisher of the Year. Archer also was just named a SOCAN [Society of Composers, Authors and Music Publishers of Canada] Award Recipient for her Top 10 Jess Moskaluke co-write "Take Me Home."
Archer joined the Downtown family, along with partner RED Creative Group, two years ago. After coming on board, she has been on a major hot streak with 3 hit singles in Canada and, more recently, four songs on the country singles charts since March of 2016 with Cassadee Pope, Brett Young, Justin Moore, and Chris Lane. Just last fall she scored her first #1 with her co-write on the Brett Young single “Sleep Without You” and her latest co-writes “Somebody Else Will” by Justin Moore and “For Her” by Chris Lane are currently climbing the charts.
“Multi-talented veteran writer Kelly Archer happened to be looking for a new pub deal right about the time when we opened the Downtown Nashville office, so the timing was impeccable. Kelly has the support of the Nashville writing community for being an amazing writer over the past 10 years; she was simply overdue! She makes a publisher's job a lot easier...thank you Kelly!” - Steve Markland, VP A&R, Downtown Nashville
