Elise LeGrow's "Rescue Me" is “Smoldering, Slow-Burning, Seductive" (Okayplayer)

Today, Elise LeGrow unveils "Rescue Me," her slow-burning transformation of Fontella Bass' sprightly soul standard, and the latest look into her forthcoming debut, 'Playing Chess' (out Feb. 2018 via S-Curve).

The brand new single shows Elise swaggering across the vibrant expanse of her extraordinary vocal range with a performance Okayplayer hails as "smoldering." Listen here.

'Playing Chess,' an album recovering and recreating the seminal Chess Records catalog, is Elise's own imaginative interruption of music history, and on "Rescue Me," she further expresses her "seductive powers of invention" (Okayplayer). Reinterpreting fundamental music through her own modern frame of reference, she reflects a new generation freed from the confines of age and time.

Elise LeGrow has been restless on the international TV circuit recently, charming the crowds of 'Later...With Jools Holland' and 'Berlin Live.' She's also proven her chops alongside contemporary R&B's titans, with The Roots, Dap-Kings, and Betty Wright all guesting on 'Playing Chess,' which has garnered early praise from Billboard, Relix, HuffPost, MOJO, and more.
