May 18, 2023 – Today, New York City native and Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Emily King releases a live performance video of her hit single “Medal.”You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjW8MVmjGmk. The joyful, upbeat anthem, on which “King delivers a show stopping vocal performance” (Wonderland) is one of 11 dynamic tracks on King’s recently released and critically acclaimed album, Special Occasion. NPR highlighted the album in a recent All Songs Considered episode, KCRW included it in their Top Albums of the Weekchart (May 1-7), and OkayPlayer spotlit the record in their Best New Albumscolumn.
Special Occasion is the follow-up to King’s critically-acclaimed Scenery LP and is her first album in four years. The album’s title track highlights King’s songwriting prowess and her ability to dig into life’s deepest sorrows and uncover unexpected beauty, shifting her focus on the little things that make life fun and worth celebrating. King is currently on a headlining tour, playing to sold out crowds across the country. King has a full set of shows coming up this week, with performances at The Fillmore in San Francisco (tonight) and Los Angeles’s The Wiltern (Saturday) and, next week, she’ll make her debut at Nashville’s famed Ryman Auditorium. On May 31st, she’ll perform to an extra special hometown crowd at NYC’s Terminal 5, before capping off the tour in Boston the following night.
