Los Angeles folk-pop standout Emma Charles has shared her new EP The Way There, which serves as the culmination of a breakout year that has included praise for "intertwining the brilliance" (Ones To Watch) of Phoebe Bridgers and Kacey Musgraves, and for "bleeding her true sense of self into her music" (Ladygunn). This four song collection achieves exactly that, filled with Emma's compelling reflections on an eventful year of life that saw her graduate from Berklee College of Music, immediately embark on her first US tour and leave her New England hometown for LA (and all the complexities that come with it). On the EP, Emma collaborates with chart-topping co-writers who have taken note along the way, including Cara Salimando (Dua Lipa, Kesha) and Doug Schadt (Maggie Rogers, Ashe) - who also produced The Way There.

“Fog was written on the last day of an intense 4-day writing camp in LA in 2019," says Charles of her EP finale. "Doug Schadt and I felt like we had exhausted all options, until I said I felt like my brain had fogged up and I couldn’t think clearly anymore. This became the inspiration behind Fog, when you can’t quite see the horizon and everything around you feel like it’s covered up.”
"Fog" is Charles' fourth and final entry into a song series that also included "25" (just named to Spotify's Fresh Finds: Best of Indie 2020 list), "Osmosis" and "Book." Each matches her "lyrics crafted with a Stevie Nicks sensibility" (American Songwriter) and "heavenly vocals" (Wonderland Magazine) to create a sound that's wholly her own. Emma Charles will return with even more new music in 2021, to be announced in the months to come.
