The outdoor venue that once drew crowds to witness groundbreaking moments in sports and entertainment for decades is a must-visit destination for music fans as well as the artists themselves. Forest Hills Stadium is a vital part of New York City’s vibrant live entertainment scene and sits among the country’s most prestigious venues like Red Rocks and Hollywood Bowl. Its storied past includes hosting some of the most notable concerts of the 60’s and 70’s, including The Rolling Stones, The Beatles (landed their helicopter on the grass courts), Jimi Hendrix (opening for The Monkees) and Bob Dylan (immediately followed his appearance at The Newport Folk Festival).

Mike Luba, the executive responsible for stadium’s rehabilitation who produces concerts at the venue in coordination with The Bowery Presents, says“It’s hard to believe that it’s coming up on a full decade since we began the renovation of the stadium. We’ve come a long way since that first show with our brothers in arms Mumford and Sons, who bravely stepped up to play the opening night back in 2013.  It’s been incredibly rewarding to ride along with the stadium crew, the hundreds of artists, our invaluable community neighbors and partners as well as the over 1 million folks who have found their waya out to the magic oasis of a stadium smack in the middle of Queens.”

The Stadium’s legendary Speakeasy Suites are thoughtfully designed and decorated private hideaways with concierge services perfect for groups, both large and small. First designed as a getaway for staff, friends and family, the unusual, hidden spaces were discovered by the New York Post, which declared, “The best concert seat in NYC is inside this porta-potty.”. Lining the stadium’s horseshoe interior and each with their own special decor and superb views of the stage, these VIP lounges offer a fan experience unlike any other.

A quick E, M, F or R subway train or one stop from Manhattan on the Long Island Rail Road, residents from all over New York flock to Forest Hills Stadium. And now with E line access from Grand Central Station, Connecticut and Westchester residents will have even easier access to the state of the art venue, which offers visitors a number of fun ways to spend time pre and post-concert.

Visitors can grab a pre-show bite ever-growing number of unique (and oftentimes local) restaurants and small businesses, including Greek cuisine from Nick’s Bistro, meat, vegetarian and vegan hoagies and more from Stacked Sandwich Shop, mouth watering slow-cooked brisket and pork from Mighty Quinn’s BBQ, as well as Mexican Ice and sweet treats from Brooklyn-based La NewYorkina. For those who prefer to enjoy their meal inside the gates, Forest Hills Stadium will again offer a diverse and delicious collection of vendors spread out over its sprawling grass tennis court concourse.

Forest Hills Stadium supports local community driven initiatives in an effort to give back to Queens, including QueensWay (a project proposing to convert the former LIRR Rockaway Beach Branch (RBB) into a new, public park) and Queens Community House  (a multi-site, multi-service settlement house that serves the diverse neighborhoods of Queens). Forest Hills Stadium is also preparing to replant the venue’s community garden for the upcoming season. In an ongoing partnership with Small Axe Peppers, the stadium grows peppers backstage to support the Small Axe mission and use as garnish and hot sauce at concessions.

Forest Hills Stadium is proud to welcome American Express, Bud Light Seltzer, Autograph, City Winery and WFUV-FM as 2023 Season Partners.

Forest Hills Stadium aims to reduce environmental impact through meaningful actions throughout the venue and behind the scenes. As of last season, Forest Hills Stadium is climate positive and carbon negative, meaning the venue offsets more than what’s created. In partnership with Anheuser-Busch, the venue will expand and track recycling efforts from concession areas, backstage and beyond all season long. Forest Hills Stadium is committed to making shows as environmentally friendly as possible and offsetting any impact generated.

Since 2017, Forest Hills Stadium has worked with REVERB to develop sustainable practices and in 2021 became the first music venue included in REVERB’s game-changing Music Climate Revolution campaign, aimed at making the entire music industry climate positive.

About Forest Hills Stadium:

Forest Hills Stadium first cemented its place in the canon of iconic American venues during the second half of the 20th century when, as the home of the U.S. Open, it hosted some of the most important tennis matches of its time. Beyond sports, the Romanesque stadium and its enviable acoustics also became known as a must-play for musical acts at the height of their fame, hosting some of the most notable concerts of the 60’s and 70’s, including The Rolling Stones, The Beatle, Jimi Hendrix and Bob Dylan . On screen, the venue’s gorgeous grounds have played an important backdrop to films and television as varied as Alfred Hitchcock’s Strangers on a Train and Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tannenbaums. However, when the U.S. Open moved to larger space in Flushing, Queens in 1977, the architecturally stunning, horseshoe-shaped stadium fell into disrepair and its days as a venue faded. In 2013, Madison House Presents partnered with the West Side Tennis Club to rehabilitate the stadium and bring events back to this storied venue.
