5-song EP is the first part of larger album ‘IF,’ releasing in full on April 30, 2027 Vance to kick off US leg of his world tour in November “Don’t Move (Live At Home)” video out now |
Today (10.30), Emmy-winning singer-songwriter Foy Vance releases his new five-track EP, IF: WE, via Rounder Records. The first of three EPs forming his forthcoming eighth studio album, IF, the release opens a larger project that will continue with IF: YOU (out in early 2027) and IF: I, the final part releasing in tandem with the full album’s arrival on April 30, 2027.
Produced by Anderson East, IF grew out of a creative resurgence following the completion of The Wake, the seventh and final album in a cycle Vance began after his father’s sudden death. This period left Vance pondering what’s next, and what “if”? He began to zero in on the two-letter word and the countless meanings it has, all depending on the context: possibility, regret, hope, uncertainty, change.
The three-part, 16-track project traces an arc that mirrors the human experience: from the collective experience of family and community in IF: WE to relationships in IF: YOU and, ultimately, self-discovery in IF: I.
As the project’s opening chapter, IF: WE explores community, homesickness, failure, and the connections that shape who we become. “Don’t Move” reflects on perseverance and finding a way forward after losing direction. Originally written for an unreleased album in the early 2000s, the song captures a formative period in Vance’s life, when he stepped away from external expectations to rediscover his purpose as a songwriter. Its themes of resilience and renewal echo the broader spirit of IF, a project shaped by revisiting the past with a newfound perspective.

For IF, Vance revisited more than 100 songs written over the course of 27 years, reimagining long-hidden material through the lens of his life today. Spanning themes of devotion, grief, longing, and forgiveness, the collection explores how personal experiences shape us and how their meaning evolves over time. The project features co-writes with acclaimed songwriters Lori McKenna (who co-wrote IF: WE’s “Know By Now”), Natalie Hemby, Gabe Simon, Ross Copperman, and others, bringing together songs written across different periods of Vance’s life.
The album is available to order in the Complete IF Vinyl Boxset that will feature limited edition versions of all three parts. The IF: WE exclusive Blood Red Eco-Mix Blend vinyl is available to order now, or fans can choose to pre-order to receive the complete collection in full on April 30, 2027. Learn more and order here.
Vance will bring songs from across his catalog to the stage this fall as he continues his 60-date Foy Vance World Tour, with upcoming U.S. dates in Los Angeles, Seattle, and Denver. Get tickets here and see the full dates below.
