Blind Bourbon Live, the one-of-a-kind rare bourbon tasting experience hosted by world-leading bourbon authority Fred Minnick, has made its way across the country with events in New York City, Las Vegas, Pittsburgh, Green Bay and festivals including Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life. On Thursday, November 10th, Minnick will bring the series to The Champions Club at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. to benefit United Service Organizations (USO).
Attendees will be treated to five pours of unknown bourbons as Fred walks them through proper taste mindfulness technique, which is a method he learned after serving in Iraq as a way to help manage his PTSD. A charcuterie assortment of meats, cheeses, grilled vegetables as well as many ballpark favorites will be served, and ticket holders will be given a Glencairn whiskey glass to take home. VIP passholders will be treated to a special selection, including vintage bourbons from the 1930’s & 1940’s from fellow event organizer Curt Kolcun. They are 5-Year Old Timbrook Bottled in Bond, Glencoe Bottled in Bond, 16-Year AH Hirsch, 23-Year Pappy Van Winkle and 6-Year Old Fitzgerald Bottled in Bond.
Tickets can be purchased at eventbrite.com/e/blind-bourbon-tickets-423561803757?aff=ebdssbdestsearch.
USO is a special organization to Minnick and Kolcun. After Minnick’s time in Iraq, where he spent time as a photojournalist in the warzone, he returned home and found himself struggling to shake the horrors of war that he had witnessed. Through USO’s work with veterans during their time in service and beyond, Minnick had a support system behind him that allowed him to heal. Minnick is host of the Hermes Creative Award winner and Webby Honoree The Fred Minnick Show, where he bridges the gap between bourbon culture and the entertainment industry. His episodes have included tastings and interviews with athletes, musicians, celebrities and bourbon executives. Previous guests have included Peyton Manning, Ludacris, Ian Somerhalder, Ashley McBryde, Lindsey Ell, Terry Bradshaw and more. Minnick is a co-founder of the American Spirits Council of Tasters and is a longtime judge at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition. He has authored several best-selling books, including Bourbon Curious; Bourbon; Rum Curious; and Whiskey Women.
