From Day One Reveals 2019 Conference Schedule

Conference on business values debuts in Chicago, San Francisco and plans second Brooklyn conference

New York, NY- From Day One, the annual gathering of 250+ founders, CEOs and principals addressing the relationship between business and society, has announced its initial 2019 schedule.

This year, one-day conferences will debut in Chicago on March 6th and San Francisco on April 9th, and will return to Brooklyn in June. Each day will feature keynotes, panels and fireside chats with leaders in HR, diversity, talent, employee engagement, CSR, corporate citizenship and more who are committed to putting people first. These events will also include networking opportunities and discussions with like-minded change makers.

From Day One, the Brooklyn-based media outlet and conference series founded in 2018 to report on these topics through editorial and features, and its various panelists, believe that companies need to be more in touch with their business partners and their employees than ever before. These conferences will be an opportunity to learn how to develop purpose and values in all types of businesses.

Highlights of 2018’s event, held on September 13th at Brooklyn’s BRIC House, include AT&T President Marissa Shorenstein on building a diverse workforce; VICE News’ Executive VP of Content Josh Tyrangiel on his company’s Charlottesville coverage and #MeToo issues; Brooklyn city council member Robert Cornegy, Jr. on gentrification and community issues; Meetup founder Scott Heiferman on creating a gender-balanced executive team at a tech company and Eileen Fisher VP of Social Consciousness Amy Hall on how to weave social responsibility into all aspects of the company. Fast Company, a co-sponsor of the conference, also moderated two of the day’s biggest panels: “Hearing What Your Customers Want” and “Setting Your Values - and Following Them.”

ABOUT FROM DAY ONE

From Day One is a conference series and journalism platform focused on innovative ways for companies to forge stronger relationships with their employees, customers and community. At a time when society holds businesses to a rising level of accountability, From Day One explores how companies can build well-grounded values into their business — diversity, responsibility, transparency — and stick with them in an economy driven by disruption. What's unique about From Day One is its cross-disciplinary approach, bringing together executives from the fields of corporate social responsibility, human resources, marketing and communications. Launched in Brooklyn in 2018 with an inaugural conference that drew hundreds of corporate decision makers, civic leaders and journalists, From Day One is bringing its conference to Chicago, San Francisco and other major cities in 2019.

From Day One began as a partnership between three entrepreneurs: Erin Sauter of Argyle, digital strategist Nick Baily and journalist and editor Steve Koepp. All three worked on the same block in Dumbo, Brooklyn, where they met and started working together on various startup ventures. They soon realized that they all shared an interest in the important relationship between business and society, which had become an urgent topic again with rising public concern about privacy and transparency issues, and a renewed focus on business diversity and inclusion. Knowing that each person could bring unique expertise to the table, they joined forces and launched From Day One, named after their shared belief that all businesses need to establish their values from day one.

From Day One is lead by Erin Sauter (Head of Partnerships), Stephen Koepp (Head of Content) and Nick Baily (Head of Strategy).
