Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre Announces "Texas Flood: A Stevie Ray Vaughan Birthday Benefit For Victims of Hurricane Harvey"

(New York, NY): Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre has announced "Texas Flood: A Stevie Ray Vaughan Birthday Benefit For Victims of Hurricane Harvey" for Tuesday, October 3, the birthday of the late guitar legend Stevie Ray Vaughan.

This benefit concert is a celebration of Vaughan's life and legacy and will raise funds for The Houston Food Bank in honor of those impacted by Hurricane Harvey. Scott Sharrard and friends will play Vaughan's first album, Texas Flood, in its entirety, with Ryan "Shwizz" Liatsis, from the band Shwizz, and his trio opening with a classic blues set.

About Scott Sharrard:

Since the Fall of 2008, Scott Sharrard had been the touring guitarist for the Gregg Allman Band. He's been called "One of the best guitarists in the country" by Billboard and "the next Eric Clapton or Mike Bloomfield" by the Indianapolis Star Tribune. Gregg Allman, had high praise for the guitarist. "I know all about guitar players --I've seen the very best -- and Scott Sharrard is the perfect guitarist for my band. He understands that you don't need to play just for the sake of playing; Scott isn't one of those guys who thinks they're getting paid by the note. About Ryan "Shwizz" Liatsis:

Ryan John Liatsis was born and raised in the town of Nanuet, NY and came from a very musical family. He was introduced to the guitar at age 15 and took quite naturally too it. He quotes "I've never found playing the guitar to be a pain or a hassle which, luckily for me, is the opposite of how most beginners feel."

From age 17 to 18 Ryan studied privately under Martin Celay, a former professor at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase. At age 22, after earning a BA in Television and Radio Production at William Patterson University, he began to pursue a career in teaching music while still performing and recording with several bands. It was around this time when Ryan's musical interests turned to the world of jazz and improvised music. At age 24 he studied under the skilled hand of guitarist Steve Khan, the son of legendary songwriter, Sammy Cahn.

Since then his composing and improvising skills have flourished, which opened the doors to more and more musical endeavors. Some notable ones have included sharing the stage with popular musicians such as Pedro Capo, Erik Lawrence (Levon Helm Band), Jeremy Wall (Spyro Gyra), and bands like Big Sam's Funky Nation, Kung Fu, Particle, Dopapod, Consider The Souce and many more. He has also performed at a plethora of prestigious venues including The Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., Webster Hall, The Bitter End and The Garage in NYC and the 2011 Catskill Chill Music Festival.

Ryan currently works as a teacher in Rockland & Westchester Counties, and regularly performs with his band SHWIZZ all over the northeast. He also frequents several local jams in Nyack, NY as well as playing locally with his jazz/fusion trio.
