Grain Audio's “One-Of-A-Kind” Speakers (NYT) Available Now

On the heels of glowing early reviews, Grain Audio has made the first two products from its new line of solid wood speakers and headphones available for purchase: the Packable Wireless System (PWS.01) — deemed “one-of-a-kind” by NY Times — and its sleek In-Ear Headphones (IEHP). Both feature Grain Audio's crystal-clear acoustics and a clean, minimalist design that uses solid wood for its warm aesthetic value and superior sound dynamics.

The portable PWS ($249), a battery-powered unit that connects with any Bluetooth-enabled product and features GRAMMY-winning Waves MaxxAudio® processing technology, made Maxim's recent list of the top five wireless speakers on the market — out of those, it's the one “that's currently presiding over our living room.” The “indie darling of Bluetooth speakers,” the PWS “packs a punch when it comes to sound,” they say, praising the natural variation in the wood from speaker to speaker — no two look quite the same. Details Magazine says both the PWS and the IEHP ($99) “look as great as they sound,” while Complex describes the PWS more succinctly: “dope.”

The IEHP’s solid walnut housings deliver a natural, balanced sound, while the inline mic and three-button remote can be used with all iOS and Android devices and gives the listener intuitive playback control. Four sizes of eartips ensure a comfortable fit and optimum acoustic performance.

Other forthcoming Grain Audio products include Over-Ear Headphones (OEHP.01, $199), which feature stylish walnut housing and gray wiring; and the line's stationary unit, the Passive Bookshelf Speakers (PBS.01, $699), which the company has sneak-previewed in the artist green rooms of venues like New York's Music Hall of Williamsburg and Boston's The Sinclair. Both products will be available for purchase later this year.

Headquartered in New York, Grain Audio was founded by a four-person team with backgrounds in acoustics, design, architecture and marketing, united by their love of music and their desire to hear it the way the artist intended. Recognizing its obligation to users to give back via social and environmental initiatives, Grain Audio employs eco-friendly practices and materials (including FSC-certified wood) that minimize the company's carbon footprint.
