Grammy-Nominated Feufollet Combines ‘Two Universes’ This Spring

'Two Universes' LP Set For March 24th Release

From the rich bayou culture of Lafayette, LA comes Grammy-Nominated Feufollet, who are "Pushing The Boundaries Of Their Genres" (NPR) and will release their new album 'Two Universes' on March 24 on Feufollet Records distributed by Thirty Tigers.

The album's melting pot sound fuses the southwestern Louisiana band's musical repertoire of Cajun, classic country, indie rock, swamp pop, and earnest Americana. The album's name is a testament to both the unique blend of French and American aesthetics found on the record, as well as the split songwriting duties held by members Chris Stafford and Kelli Jones-Savoy. The band performs in both French and English, across 11 dynamic tracks that "bring the sensibility of its generation to a much older style of music" (NPR).

Feufollet's talent allows for them swap instruments and lead vocal duties, combining the styles of each musician in diverse ways throughout the album. Gentle guitar picking and a soothing fiddle help magnify the sincerity of Jones-Savoy's vocal on "When You Said Goodbye." Jones elects to reciting the songs in French on "Hole in My Heart" and "Cette fois" with a honky tonk-style guitar and piano flourishes swinging throughout some of the albums more danceable tracks.

The sound of fiddles, powerful organs vamps, and a folky drum beat characterize the album opener "Tired of Your Tears" which features beautifully distinct vocals:

French for "crazy fire" or "will-o'-the-wisp," Feufollet was nominated for the 2010 Grammy Award for Best Zydeco/Cajun Music Album for their last release 'En Couleurs.' It was praised by the New York Times, Garden & Gun and Elvis Costello who proclaimed "[En Couleurs] is the most beautifully melodic album I've heard all year".
