Henry Jamison Announces Collaborative EP Tourism Out May 15th on Color Study

On May 15th, Vermont’s musical bard Henry Jamison will enlist a who’s-who of indie rock royalty to collaborate with him on his ‘Tourism’ EP (Color Study). Each track on the five-song collection will boast a celebrated featured vocalist, including Darlingside, Ed Droste, Fenne Lily, Joseph, and Lady Lamb, delivering Jamison’s most diverse and forward-thinking collection to date.

Henry describes ‘Tourism’ as “a collection of songs that I wrote while being constantly on and off the road. It's really a short breakup record and an exploration of the dissolution of self that led to that breakup. Touring is such a wild combination of travel to incredible places, hard work, little sleep, deep but fleeting friendships, disagreement, partying, homesickness and general uprootedness. I also asked friends who I'd met along the way to sing on the songs: Darlingside, Joseph, Ed Droste, Lady Lamb and Fenne Lily (all touring musicians themselves) and now I can't even imagine these songs without them.”

Today, Henry releases “Still Life”, an angelic vocal collaboration that he told Billboard is a look at the regret one faces in the wake up of a breakup, using the vocals of Joseph as a pseudo-metaphor: “It's a pretty bombastic take on my failure to value what I had. The music video tries to amplify these themes, showing me in a dreamscape of my own illusions about masculinity and domesticity. My friends in Joseph were kind enough to sing on it and they function within the song as my therapists and as angels, I think.” Watch the new video HERE.

Elsewhere on the record, Jamison continues to flex his musical muscles, like on the dreamy The Byrds-esque, pop-folk delivered on “Green Room” (feat. Ed Droste) and the storytelling vulnerability found on “Orchardist” (feat. Lady Lamb). Darlingside (featured on “I Forget Myself”) serve as the backing band throughout ‘Tourism’ and the entire collection was produced by multi-instrumentalist Harris Paseltiner.

‘Tourism’ is Henry’s first release via Color Study a label founded by his long-time manager Spencer Kelley. Following the release of the EP, Henry will be performing three select speciality shows in LA, New York and London this June presented by the label.

Jamison has earned his place among modern music’s revered storytellers and folk performers, having performed toured across the US and Europe alongside the likes of Caroline Rose, Darlingside, and Adrianne Lenker (of Big Thief) who described Henry's music as "songs that sing me through mazes of my own sensuality and sadness, help me to feel less alone in the journey to understand myself more deeply and to face gaping wounds,” while also being critically acclaimed by the likes of Billboard, American Songwriter, The Fader, Rolling Stone and Consequence of Sound.

Raised by a classical composer father and an English professor mother, Jamison was drawn to music and lyrics from his earliest days, and began recording his own homemade cassette tapes while he was still in elementary school. Going further back in Jamison's lineage, you'll find George Frederick Root, the most popular songwriter of the Civil War era and the author of the iconic "Battle Cry Of Freedom." Keep going even further to 14th Century England and you'll find poet John Gower, a favorite of Chaucer and King Richard II.
