Hermosa Beach Alt Rockers Release Debut EP

Hermosa Beach  trio LIFE will release their debut EP, ‘R U D W N ?’ on June 18, 2014. Comprised of founding members of West Coast favorites Tomorrows Bad Seeds—Moi J. Quinn, Sean Chapman, and Matthew McEwan—LIFE’s new EP blends ska, alt-rock, and R&B calling to mind Sublime, Pennywise, and Bad Brains.

On the EP’s title track, buoyant guitars spiral across a reggae-tinged bass line to tell a love story set on the beach. “Better Days”--a funk anthem injected with big band horns--sounds like Red Hot Chili Peppers doing Ziggy Marley. Featuring drums from Josh Freese, JR Robinson, and Omar Hakim (Daft Punk, Madonna, etc.) on various songs, the EP is colored by sunny harmonies and earworm melodies.

After several years of playing Warped Tour in TBS and an appearance on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, LIFE’s progressive surf and skate aesthetics have recently earned them an endorsement from the brand Hurley.
