Vice Noisey says Hot Chip gives Arthur Russell's "Go Bang" "a proper tribute... with a sound that feels like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever." The song comes from the new Arthur Russell tribute album, 'Master Mix: Red Hot + Arthur Russell' out 10/21 on Yep Roc. Listen to the joyous, "beautiful" cover here.
Russell was a pioneering figure in music hailed by NPR for his "catchy and hypnotic records that were far ahead of their time." Though Russell passed away in 1992 from AIDS-related causes, his blend of avant-garde and pop-informed songs are brilliantly reimagined on the album by over 20 artists including Robyn, Lonnie Hollie, Jose Gonzalez and Blood Orange. Sufjan Stevens' version of "A Little Lost" was recently praised by Entertainment Weekly who said, "it's hard to improve on this classic... but Stevens does it." http://shorefi.re/1o4Qkkm
