Made US TV Debut On The Kelly Clarkson Show This Week - Watch HERE
Listen To ‘it’s just my opinion’ HERE
[May 8, 2026 – New York, NY] - Fearless opinionated pop provocateur girli releases her third studio album, it’s just my opinion, available now via Believe Music.
With this latest project, girli proves herself as one of the most creative and forward-thinking voices in contemporary pop. it’s just my opinion represents her most daring work to date - an authentic evolution of the queer alternative sound that has become central to her artistic identity. She's trading gloss for grit, and polish for raw, intimate expression, stomping fully into her role as a popstar and joyfully living her truth.
girli began developing the album in 2025, setting a defined objective to complete the record within nine months while documenting the process for her audience. Returning to a more instinctive approach, she made a conscious decision to create without self-censorship. “When I first started making music, I had a strong political drive that became diluted as I was encouraged to be more ‘commercially viable,’” she explains. “Now, that’s shifted, and listeners are increasingly drawn to artists who genuinely stand for something.”
Led by resplendent opener ‘Blue Sky’, it’s just my opinion is brimming with pop music distorted through a steely, scuzzy lens. Growing up in North London, girli absorbed the chaos and hooks of the indie sleaze scene, and now she channels that restless energy into songs that feel alive, pulsing like a sweaty gig in Camden or Shoreditch. It’s classic girli alt-pop - nostalgic, chaotic, and fearless, but sharpened with a bold new edge of punk-rock grit.
girli has been teasing her new era since late last year, beginning with the release of ‘Better Undressed’, followed by the powerful ‘Slap on the Wrist’ - an unflinching, in-your-face confrontation of sexual harassment and violence against women. girli made her US TV debut with a powerful performance of the song on The Kelly Clarkson Show this week.
Further highlights include Romantic Sadness, which captures the disarming tendency to romanticise pain as a means of survival; the electrifying chaos of ‘Squirm’; and The Answer, an explosive coming-of-age track that reflects on girli’s first teenage crush and the moment it awakened her queerness. The album also shines in its quieter, more vulnerable moments. Don’t Make Me Cry offers a soft glimpse of what girli might sound like leaning fully into country-pop - dreamy, nostalgic, and wrapped in ambient textures, while Traces shows she can command a mid-tempo track with more finesse than many of her peers Lifestylechannels an effortless early-2000s cool and tells the story of how queerness isn’t a lifestyle choice and the challenges that come with being in a relationship with someone who isn’t comfortable with their own identify.
It's about to be another huge year for girli as this Summer she’s hitting the road in full force, celebrating her new album and reconnecting with the community she’s beautifully built. Her new North American Tour will kick off right where it all began: Baby’s All Right, where she made her New York debut. She’ll be at the Brooklyn venue on June 11th, followed by stops in major cities including Chicago, DC, LA, and Toronto.

Since emerging with her breakthrough sophomore album, she has carved a space in the alternative scene for bold, boundary-pushing storytelling. boundary-defying album ‘Matriarchy’ is a deeply transparent exploration of both the struggles and triumphs of queer identity and womanhood, reinforcing her positions as an ambassador for the LGBTQIA+ community and a front-runner for the next generation of alt-pop music. She received praise from The Fader, AS IF Magazine, Bust Magazine, inclusion in GRAMMY.com’s rising LGBTQ artists, and Billboard who said: “..Matriarchy is absolutely essential.”
As an openly LGBTQ+ artist and advocate for social change, girli continues to intertwine her personal journey with broader cultural conversations. Her past work has touched on themes of identity, politics, mental health, and more - and this new chapter builds on that same spirit of activism, but through a softer, more human lens.

ABOUT girli
Girli, also known as Milly Toomey, was born and raised in north London. She started out singing in bands, but soon realised she was "too much of a control freak" not to go solo. She adopted her stage name and signature pink hair during this period as a way of "weaponizing everything that was being used against me". Right from the start, girli took pride in being slyly subversive. "The word 'girly' has so much stigma attached to it because it's often used to belittle femininity," she explains. "I wanted to take that word and turn it into something powerful, and I changed the 'y' to an 'i' so people would be able to find my music on Google.
Now, with over 100 million stream, fans around the world are embracing girli's music as an inspiring and comforting part of their everyday lives. She’s been featured in major outlets like Billboard, Glamour UK, Queerty and GRAMMY.com’s Pride Month Playlist Of Rising LGBTQIA+ Artists.
