Hunter Noack Releases In A Landscape: Live Via Heinz Records

Friday, June 6 (NEW YORK, NY) - Today, classical pianist and naturalist Hunter Noack, released his second album, IN A LANDSCAPE: Live via Heinz Records. The album features 11 live recordings from a year of performances, captured in stunning natural settings, including Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in Banff, Canada, Silver Falls State Park in Silverton, Oregon, and more. The album comes as Noack is in the midst of the IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild™ 10th anniversary tour.

Produced by Hunter Noack, the album highlights his signature fusion of classical music, traditional folk, and the natural world. It features a range of distinguished artists, including GRAMMY Award-winning contemporary composer Caroline Shaw, Smithsonian singer-songwriter No-No Boy, America’s Got Talent vocalist Jimmie Herrod, and GRAMMY award winning indigenous artist James Edmund Greeley. The album also features a variety of classical and contemporary composers including acclaimed Turkish pianist Fazıl Say, Haitian virtuoso Ludovic Lamothe, impressionist Claude Debussy, and the legendary romantic Frédéric Chopin. 

“I invited the artists I fell in love with last year to join me on stage and the result is the most wildly diverse track list I’ve heard on a ‘classical' album,” Hunter Noack shares.

Currently, Noack is traveling across the American West for the 10th season of IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild™, the groundbreaking concert series that transforms how audiences experience classical music by removing it from the confines of traditional concert halls and placing it in the great outdoors. Noack will travel with a 1912 Steinway grand piano for nearly 50 concerts this year. Mountain tops, old growth forests, and sunny meadows will again replace the traditional concert hall as audiences listen through wireless headphones, wandering afield with the music as a soundtrack to their experience.

Noack has already visited a variety of “inspiring settings” (C Magazine) on the tour, including Sea Ranch, CA, the San Francisco Botanical Garden, and Bellosguardo in Santa Barbara, CA. With upcoming stops in Washington, Oregon, Wyoming, and Idaho, the tour brings “a product of awe and wonder, [with] a mission to connect people to nature through classical piano music” (Success Magazine). Founded by Noack in 2016 with a mission to remove barriers to live classical music and foster a deeper connection to the natural world, IN A LANDSCAPE has presented over 300 concerts featuring 110 guest artists to 75,000 attendees, many of whom had never attended a classical music event before. By partnering with national and state parks, land trusts, conservancies, historical societies, Native American reservations, and schools, the series brings music to rural communities where such opportunities are often scarce. In alignment with its nonprofit mission to make concerts accessible to all, IN A LANDSCAPE subsidizes ticket pricing at 95% of its concerts and distributes over $100,000 in free tickets annually through its Good Neighbor Program.

IN A LANDSCAPE cultivates a profound feeling of togetherness across ranchers and hikers to city dwellers, families, and classical music aficionados, proving that music and nature have the power to unite people across all walks of life. The series has won multiple awards and has been featured on CBS Mornings, in the Los Angeles Times, Airmail, C Magazine, Success Magazine, and FLAUNT and as part of TEDxPortland.

Named after John Cage’s composition In a Landscape, Noack’s series embraces the avant-garde composer’s ethos of redefining how we listen to and experience music. “What surprises me every concert,” says Noack, “are the moments of serendipity—when the leaves blow or the birds dance perfectly in time with the music, as if choreographed by a divine hand. In those moments of magic, I feel such gratitude for classical music and the parks and wild lands in which we play.”
