iCitizen Reaches #1, 200K+ Users, $3M+ In Funding

2014 has seen the app iCitizen garner 200,000+ users, raise over $3 million in funding and hit #1 in the App Store. iCitizen enables "direct engagement" with the "most comprehensive database for a politics app." (Huffington Post) Politico calls it "nothing short of extraordinary." The app features a real-time news feed educating users to the issues they care about, and a "Speak Up" function to connect users with their elected officials. Here are some recent milestones:

Over 1M Votes Cast
WSJ reporter Simon Constable praised iCitizen as the app connecting voters to the issues. Daily polls regularly draw over 13,000 votes. Topics from healthcare to foreign affairs to alternative energy are covered in questions like "Should the federal government spend more to advance solar and wind power?"

The app speaks directly to Congress
The first official report of iCitizen's findings has been delivered to Congress, and findings include:
•    73% of iCitizens do not see added benefit from the Affordable Care Act
•    61% of iCitizens do not want increased restrictions on buying firearms
•    64% of iCitizens disagree with raising the federal debt ceiling

$3M+ in Funding Secured
The app has seen three rounds of financing, all common stock, and raised $3.3M in funding to date. The start-up was invited to present at both the New England Venture Summit and Silicon Valley-based Venture Summit West as a Top Innovator, and sponsored an Influencer's Breakfast in DC. iCitizen has strategically aligned itself at the intersection of mobile, big data and analytics and social media technology to present its message of civic engagement, and has garnered the support of influential sites like PandoDaily, and has been recognized by WSJ as the start-up engaging citizens in politics.

High-profile investors including Harry Jacobson, founder of Contact Software, have committed financially to iCitizen's success. Government funding has also come in the form of partnership with Launch Tennessee, a public-private partnership focused on supporting the development of high-growth companies in the State of Tennessee.
