18 Year-Old Indian-American Rapper/Writer/Producer Releases “pots n’ pans,” Celebrating The Pure Noise And Inspiration Of Childhood Play

LISTEN HERE

March 4th, 2021 - Today, 18-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter and producer KOAD releases his debut single “pots n’ pans,” a story revolving around the energy, noise and inspiration of childhood play. The track, a raucous and raunchy salvo produced by Grammy winner Rahki (Kendrick Lamar, Eminem) with additional songwriting from KUČKA (ASAP Rocky, Flume), is being released on KOGO, an art house and creative community founded by KOAD.

In the music video KOAD invites viewers into a magical playground world where he manically bangs on a floating art structure consisting of the song’s titular pots and pans. It’s a world that, like KOAD himself, is full of mischief and frenetic energy, bursting at the seams with creativity. Watch HERE

ABOUT KOAD

KOAD builds sonic and visual worlds and explores emotional extremes through the lived experience of an 18 year-old Indian-American growing up in the San Fernando Valley. The multi-hyphenate creator has been making music in his parents’ garage since receiving a beat pad for Christmas in 2013, at age 10. In 2021 he will embark on a new journey as he releases “pots n’ pans,” his first creative project from KOGO.

KOAD is an uncontainable creative force, with ideas and energy seeping at his seams, who latches onto any and all mediums that he comes across. His makeshift studio doubles as a gallery space for his paintings; he is prone to scribbling lyrics on paper plates; and has created a merch line inspired by his ever-present partner, a pet stuffed animal koala named Benjamin. A KOAD mood board contains maximalist visual references ranging from Jim Carrey’s The Mask to the Captain Underpants children’s books series. All these influences and elements are distilled into his music, propelling narratives through songwriting and production that are singularly KOAD.
