Country artist Jackie Lee reflects on the messy aftermath and emotional spirals that follow unresolved heartbreak with his new song “Always Starts With You,” available today (12.26).
Written by Lee alongside Chris DuBois (Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley) and Brent Anderson (Jason Aldean, Blake Shelton), “Always Starts With You” narrates an emotional relapse that comes with not being able to let go of love. From finally moving on to letting it all unravel when they reappear just to end up back at square one, Lee captures heartache's cyclical nature.

“It feels good to finally share a song that’s meant so much to me for a long time,” says Lee. "I never quite knew where ‘Always Starts With You’ would fit earlier in my career, but now I feel refreshed and excited to release music that I’m truly proud of.”
“Always Starts With You” follows Lee’s recently released “After Loving You,” detailing the struggle of moving on from a lost loved one and closing Lee’s own chapter of grief after losing his mother to cancer. It also previews a new chapter of music that sees the artist, previously named an “artist to watch” by Rolling Stone, Billboard, Huffington Post and CMT, stepping into his most authentic voice.
Lee has been recording new music at Southern Ground Nashville and fans can expect to hear more in early 2026. Last week, Lee made an appearance on the Whiskey Jam stage in Nashville, TN, with more performances to be announced in the coming weeks.
