James Vincent McMorrow to Release ‘We Move: Early Recordings and Alternate Versions’

James Vincent McMorrow has confirmed the release of ‘We Move: Early Recordings and Alternate Versions,’ streaming exclusively on Tidal starting for one week beginning Friday, November 18th. The album, which features never-before-heard demos and alternate versions of each track off this year’s ‘We Move,’ will also be available exclusively in a deluxe physical package of ‘We Move’ which combines the original ‘We Move’ on CD with a bonus LP of ‘We Move: Early Recordings and Alternate Versions,’ on November 25th as part of Record Store Day’s Black Friday event. A list of participating record stores carrying this deluxe package can be found here: http://smarturl.it/JVM_RSDBF

McMorrow explains:

While I was working on ‘We Move,’ the whole time I kept track of where the songs began, with the intention of putting something together that would serve as a separate artifact as to how it all came together. That's what this version is. Not solo versions, but alternate versions and initial ideas. They’re raw, plain spoken, unadulterated, so that people could listen and hear the songs at the core of the production, the initial idea, the initial thought. Then when they listen to the full album, my hope is that they'll have a little more insight into what it means to make a record like this, the journey it can take.

James has also shared a solo live performance of ‘We Move’ highlight and current radio single “Get Low,” filmed in Los Angeles earlier this year. Watch here and feel free to post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YfLHjrsMB64

‘We Move’ earned raves everywhere from Pitchfork, Pigeons & Planes, NPR Music, FADER and more. Produced by Nineteen85 (Drake, dvsn), Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith, Years & Years) and Frank Dukes (Kanye West, Rihanna), the album has proved a historic success for McMorrow, landing at #1 in his home country of Ireland.

James kicks off a headlining US tour tonight at New York’s Webster Hall, his largest headlining show in the city to date. Full dates below.
