Spotify users can now explore the expansive world of jazz effortlessly with "Jazzify," the new app from X5 Music Group. Jazzify does for jazz what X5’s "Classify" and "Bluesify" apps have done for classical and blues -- help Spotify users browse a vast and often challenging genre, making the discovery of new music easy and enjoyable.
Classify has become the world's biggest classical community since its launch last year, with 100,000 monthly users and 348,000 app installs. As one of the internet's top classical-music discovery portals, it features more than 1,500 customized playlists and albums across the entire classical canon. Similarly, Bluesify, which launched last month, has helped completely new audiences discover the blues. More than 1,000 playlists and albums curated by blues experts span every form and era of the genre. According to Billboard, the "blues browser is so helpful, Spotify should come bundled with tuition at music academies."
Now Jazzify is introducing one of America’s most cherished musical traditions to a new generation of listeners, while helping dedicated jazz fans discover Spotify’s deeper jazz cuts. Jazzify features numerous new releases that mix recordings from the historic Blue Note and Verve labels, letting users hear the very best jazz has to offer in one place. Users can browse by artist, featured instrument, time period and subgenre, from acid jazz and big band to hard bop and swing. The app suggests related music and offers a wealth of background information, helping listeners develop an understanding of one of the world's most intricate musical styles.
For X5, a Stockholm-based digital-music pioneer that made its name in classical music, Classify was a logical first step into music apps. The launch of Bluesify and now Jazzify underscores the success of the company’s U.S. expansion in 2009 and advances its mission to bring listeners great music, regardless of genre or industry boundaries. Since expanding beyond classical, X5 has secured deals with some of the most-respected labels in the world, including Sun Records, Verve Music Group, Blue Note Records, Alligator Records, and Vanguard Records.
X5 North American CEO Scott Ambrose Reilly recently appeared on "Bloomberg West" to discuss the company's focus on music discovery and recent jazz releases. Watch here: http://shorefi.re/1fmSAh9
