JERRY KOLBER is an Executive Producer, writer and the CEO of ATOMIC ENTERTAINMENT GROUP – creators of the hit science/edu-taintment shows BRAIN GAMES and BRAINCHILD.
Kolber graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, with a degree in theater and concentration in film.
He has since crafted a career as a storyteller in non-fiction television – working as a show runner, producer, EP or Co-EP on projects such as the pop culture hit Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, Gastineau Girls (E!), Inked (A&E), Confessions of a Matchmaker (A&E), NOFX: Backstage Passport (an 8 part docu-series on legendary punk band NOFX), Only For God: Inside Hasidism (Nat Geo), Prison Women (Nat Geo), Meat Men (Food Network) and Gold Fathers (Nat Geo).
After a long string of producing successful shows under his belt, Kolber turned his eye towards creating his own TV shows. Kolber credits his early experience working with Children’s Television Workshop, a childhood obsession with performing magic, and his own unsatisfying experience with math and science education in high school as the key ingredients behind the creation of Brain Games (Nat Geo/Netflix). Brain Games went on to have the highest rated premiere, highest rated series and score an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Informational Series.
Following the success of Brain Games, Kolber co-created the ATOMIC ENTERTAINMENT GROUP to continue his vision of crafting smart, fun, information-driven content cleverly designed to entertain as much as educate.
For the past 7 years, Kolber and his team at ATOMIC have created a wide array of highly rated, well-regarded scripted and unscripted content including: the feature documentary 14 Minutes to Earth; The Internet Ruined My Life; and the global, kids’ science series Brainchild for Netflix, produced in partnership with Pharrell Williams. Since its launch a few weeks ago, Brainchild has garnered nothing but glowing reviews, including The New York Times and is a hit among kids and parents.
Kolber currently has over a dozen new projects in the works including a series that takes a behind the scenes look at the best magicians in the world, entitled Making Magic.
Kolber currently lives in the Lower East Side of Manhattan with his domestic partner, Brian Suarez, an internationally known electronic musician who performs as ‘Allies For Everyone’.
