John King’s “Touching” (PEOPLE) Video Reveals The Toll Of Alcohol Addiction

Country music may have an alcohol problem, but No. 1 songwriter and ASCAP Award-winning country artist John King flips the script in a “touching” (PEOPLE) new music video for his song “’Til It Changes Your Mind.” The video shares a story of redemption for a man whose alcohol struggles drive away the love of his life, until he finds the strength to get sober and re-gain her trust.

King spoke with PEOPLE about new video, here: people.com/country/john-king-debuts-video-for-til-it-changes-your-mind

While King has never struggled with alcohol himself, he shares that "’Til It Changes Your Mind” is a very personal track. For him, it tells the story of how his career ambition put a strain on his relationship with his now wife, whom he met at just 15 years old, and details the work he put into becoming the best man he could be for her.

"The premise of this song is something I've lived," says King. "It's something that I think that a lot of people have been through. It's about having to change somebody's mind about you. It's about having to prove somebody wrong, while bettering yourself."

Written by King with Jason Gantt (Blake Shelton, Scotty McCreery) and Matt Rogers (Brett Eldredge, Randy Houser, Jimmie Allen), the song comes from King’s recently release debut album “Always Gonna Be You” (10.8), which American Songwriter says “establishes the Georgia native as a boundless artist with an undeniable talent for truth-telling.” Set in a chronological 10-track narrative of King’s life "'Til It Changes Your Mind” represents the turning point moment when he decided he needed to re-prioritize his life.
