John Mayer Brings “Born And Raised” Tour To The Marcus Amphitheater During Summerfest 2013

John Mayer embarking on first major tour in three years, his first since the release of Born and Raised

MILWAUKEE (March 22, 2013) – Milwaukee World Festival, Inc. officials are excited to announce the eighth major show slated for Summerfest 2013. Grammy Award-winning artist John Mayer will launch his first major tour in three years when he headlines the Marcus Amphitheater on Saturday, July 6.

This marks John's first tour in support of Born and Raised, his latest studio album, and will run through the fall, with one dollar from each ticket sold benefitting NCIRE's work supporting returning Veterans. John's appearances this spring will be his first full-length concerts in three years and first public performances since his set, on January 16 of this year, at "The Livingston Town Proper: A Concert to Benefit the Fighters of the Pine Creek Fire." A special musical event organized and hosted by Mayer, the benefit occasioned his first in-concert performance as a singer since April 1, 2011. (In March 2012, the return of a throat granuloma had forced him to cancel his first tour in two years and take an indefinite hiatus now coming to a close.)
Tickets go on sale Saturday, March 30 at Noon (12:00 pm) and include Summerfest admission. Tickets can be purchased at the Summerfest Box Office, Ticketmaster Ticket Centers, Walmart stores, online at Ticketmaster.com and by phone at 1.800.745.3000 (live Ticketmaster Agent) or 1.866.448.7849 (“Ticketmaster Express” automated phone line). Patrons may also utilize “ticketfast” at Ticketmaster.com to print barcoded concert tickets from home. Convenience fees may be added to all purchases.

Released in June 2012, Born and Raised, the fifth Columbia Records album from seven-time Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and guitarist John Mayer, debuted at Number One in six countries--Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Denmark, Netherlands and the United States--while hitting Number One on iTunes in thirty territories worldwide.

Mayer's previous albums, Room for Squares (2001), Heavier Things (2003), Continuum (2006) and Battle Studies (2009), have sold more than 17 million copies combined worldwide. John has won seven Grammy Awards and received an additional 11 nominations. He has been included in Time Magazine's annual Time 100 list of the most influential contemporary thinkers, leaders, artists and entertainers, and twice featured on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine's annual "Guitar" issue.

A musician who confounds genre boundaries, John Mayer has performed and/or recorded with an extraordinary range of artists from the worlds of rock, blues, hip-hop, jazz, and country including Eric Clapton, BB King, Buddy Guy, T-Bone Burnett, Herbie Hancock, Dixie Chicks, Jay Z and Alicia Keys.

Summerfest 2013 will take place June 26 - 30 and July 2 - 7, from Noon until Midnight and will be closed Monday, July 1. Following its 1968 debut, Summerfest has evolved into what is now recognized as “The World’s Largest Music Festival” and Milwaukee’s cornerstone summer celebration, bringing the music industry’s hottest stars, emerging talent and local favorites along with approximately 900,000 people from Milwaukee and around the world together each year for an unforgettable live music experience.
