(New York, NY) - Last night, John Prine won the prestigious PEN Song Lyrics Award for Literary Excellence at a special ceremony at Boston's John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. The award is given to artists who have contributed definitive works to the American music canon and has been bestowed biennially since 2012. Past recipients include Chuck Berry, Leonard Cohen, Kris Kristofferson and Randy Newman.
Today, John has announced that he will play his 1971 self-titled debut album in full at an intimate show this Thursday, September 22nd at Nashville's Station Inn during Americanafest. The Tennessean broke the news this morning: http://tnne.ws/2cGvZ8X
John Prine's new album 'For Better, Or Worse' is out September 30th via Oh Boy/Thirty Tigers. He will play a sold-out, two-night engagement at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on September 30th and October 1st in celebration of the new album and his 70th birthday, which is on October 10th. John will also tour in select cities through the fall, full itinerary below.
