“North West Passage” boasts soaring multiple part harmonies, a soulful and deeply rootsy interpretation of this song originally written and recorded by Canadian singer-songwriter Stan Rogers. It’s one of many highlights on the seasonally themed Winter Stories - Judy’s fourth new album in four years, that seeks warmth in the winter months. It features new songs, penned for this album, classics like Joni Mitchell’s “The River,” and Collins evergreens like “The Blizzard,” re-recorded for this album.
In the fall of 2019, Collins, Fjeld, and Chatham County Line will perform select Winter Stories-themed shows and tours internationally, including 8 concerts at Joe’s Pub in New York City in November, where Judy is the 2019 Vanguard in residence. Full list of dates below.
In the past four years, Collins has released three albums and a each have received a tremendous amount of accolades. 2016’s Silver Skies Blue, a duets record with Ari Hest, was nominated for a GRAMMY Award, and led to a performance at the GRAMMY Premiere Ceremony. In 2017, she released Everybody Knows, her first album with Stephen Stills celebrating an important decades-long friendship that led to a year of touring, a profile on CBS Sunday Morning and more.
