Kaufman Music Center Launches Two New Performing Arts Initiatives: Kaufman Music Camp & Retreat In Warwick, NY & Pathways Program

Wednesday, January 17th – Today, Kaufman Music Center, New York City’s premier destination for music education and performance, announces Kaufman Music Camp & Retreat, at Mountain Lake Park in Warwick, NY offering an unparalleled performing arts education in a breathtaking lakefront setting. Located just 90 minutes from midtown Manhattan at the site where the 2023 mockumentary hit comedy Theater Camp was filmed, the camp transports some of Kaufman’s finest education programs along with innovative and engaging new offerings from the heart of the arts on New York City’s Upper West Side to the tranquil beauty of Warwick’s sparkling lakes and rolling hills.

“I’m excited to share the exceptional teachers at Kaufman with families from all around our area at our new summer camp,” says celebrated pianist Orli Shaham, Chair of Kaufman’s Board of Trustees. “They've improved my own children's lives for over a decade.”

Kaufman Executive Director Kate Sheeran says, “We are thrilled that some of our signature performing arts programs, plus exciting new camps not offered anywhere else, can now be enjoyed by kids, adults and whole families together in a beautiful setting outside the city.”

Participants will immerse themselves in unrivaled weekend workshops or week-long programs in music, dance and theater for all ages, from young children and teens to adults. Their programs combine creativity and the best performing arts education with summer fun to create lifelong memories. The camp will be in session from July 29 – August 17, 2024.

In addition to the new camp in Warwick, NY, Kaufman Music Center will continue to offer its regular summer programs at its Manhattan campus at 129 W. 67th St. More info on Kaufman Music Camp & Retreat here, and additional info on the individual programming/camps below.

NEW PATHWAYS PROGRAM IS LEVELING THE PLAYING FIELD FOR YOUNG MUSICIANS IN NYC

With the new Pathways program launched this fall, Kaufman Music Center is increasing diversity and access in the music field by continuing to create pathways to impactful music study beginning in elementary and middle school, providing students with the life-changing benefits of an intensive music education. By leveling the playing field from the start of their journey, Kaufman is equipping and empowering young people from backgrounds that have been underrepresented in the field of music.

The Pathways program offers students tuition-free weekly private instrumental lessons and group classes, as well as access to masterclasses, workshops and performances. Kaufman Music Center also covers the cost of their travel to lessons and provides access to a musical instrument at no cost. The program launched with an initial cohort that will double in size each year.

For the Pathways Program, Kaufman Music Center is partnering with public schools, community centers, cultural organizations and music teachers all over NYC – including current community partners like Bronx Housing Community Center, Goddard Riverside Community Center, and SCAN-Harbor Performing Arts Academy at SCAN-Harbor Inc – to recruit highly motivated students in late elementary and early middle school grades.
