Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band Unveils “Tailwind” From New Album ‘The Traveler’ (May 31/Concord Records)

Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band has shared another new song from ‘The Traveler’ (May 31/Concord Records), today unveiling “Tailwind.”

“Tailwind” is an epic ode to exploring the open road, swimming in acoustic guitar, organ, horns, and a scorching slide guitar solo from Kenny, one of the most beloved guitar players of the past two decades. The new album was cut during a break from the road in Los Angeles, in the middle of an uncompromising tour schedule that captured Kenny and his band in a locked groove and ready to rock.  

‘The Traveler’ features Kenny, vocalist Noah Hunt, drummer Chris “Whipper” Layton (formerly of Stevie Ray Vaughan’s Double Trouble), bassist Kevin McCormick, and keyboardists Jimmy McGorman and Joe Krown. Co-produced by Shepherd and Marshall Altman, The Traveler features some of the most distinctive music of Kenny Wayne’s storied career and includes several new originals plus fresh takes on Buffalo Springfield’s “Mr. Soul” and Joe Walsh’s “Turn To Stone.”
