Shortly after her song "Beginning Middle End” (Netflix) became a hit pop anthem for many rom-com lovers, Leah Nobel, who has been writing in character for Grey's Anatomy, Apple, Toyota and more for the past few years, felt inspired to go back to her musical roots, writing songs for and as herself. Now, she’s releasing those songs via ‘Mother Tongue,’ out 10.14 via Big Yellow Dog Music. Nobel’s new single “Late Bloomer” is available everywhere today (7.29).
"Late Bloomer” is a coming-of-age song that offers comfort to anyone who has felt left behind in life -- physically, emotionally and situationally.

“‘Late Bloomer’ is a semi-autobiographical look back on three defining seasons of my life that share one constant theme: feeling behind,” says Nobel. "The song is a bit of a pep talk to myself as a reminder that there actually is no ‘behind schedule’ in life. As there is no ‘one size fits all’ for how our lives are supposed to play out. It also focuses on the detriment of cultural timelines, how we are taught to follow them as children, and how they add so much unnecessary pressure and comparison in our lives.”

‘Mother Tongue’ follows Nobel’s NPR-praised ‘Running In Borrowed Shoes’ (2019), 'love, death, etc.’ EP, and her smash hit "Beginning Middle End," which surpassed 40 million global streams, was nominated for Best Musical Moment at MTV's Movie & TV Awards, and landed at No. 1 on Shazam's US Top 200 chart and No. 2 on Shazam's Global Top 200 chart. Across ten tracks, ‘Mother Tongue’ dances between folk and pop, personal stories and playful fiction, accompanied by Nobel’s ethereal vocals and airy instrumentals.
