June 15, 2023 - - Live Music Society, the nonprofit foundation that has provided $2.3 million in grants to support nearly 130 small venues and listening rooms across the United States since 2020, has announced key activations during the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA) ‘23 conference and gala in Washington, D.C. on July 10 and 11 (NIVA ‘23 runs from July 9-12). The partnership represents an alignment of missions of both organizations to support performance venues and is an opportunity for Live Music Society to highlight their 2023 initiatives and spotlight new grant recipients. Live Music Society’s presence includes a presentation during the Independent Awards Gala on the evening of July 10 as well as a panel discussion featuring key stakeholders in the small venue community, with details to be announced soon. The foundation will also sponsor a Salute to Small Venues concert at Pie Shop, hosting an informal mixer with performances by Speedy Ortiz and Grady, and welcome attendees to the Live Music Society Cantina, a place to recharge and network directly across from The Anthem, the main venue hosting conference programming. See below for full details.

Live Music Society has also announced that on June 27 it will be sharing the recipients of their major initiative for this year, the Music in Action grant. The Music in Action grant is a reimagined program that moves away from the pandemic emergency funding of the previous three grant cycles and into project-based allocation. This new program is supporting venue owners and managers who develop and implement creative ideas aimed at engaging their local communities, expanding their audiences and creating new sources of revenue.
