Today (5.2), Logan Mize, whose Heartland-tinged country-rock tracks have been hailed “a gem” by MusicRow, releases “I Still Do” – a wistful, acoustic guitar-driven ballad capturing the ache of lost love – and announces Open Road, an all-new, six-track EP out June 27 via Big Yellow Dog Music.
Produced by Randy Montana (Luke Combs, “Beer Never Broke My Heart”) and co-written with Nick Walsh (Riley Green, “Damn Good Day to Leave”) and Kyle Sturrock(Blake Shelton, “Texas”), Mize wrestles love’s lingering ache with quiet defiance, capturing the bittersweet struggle of holding on to what’s been lost.
With its nostalgic vulnerability and timeless country storytelling, the track offers fans a first taste of ‘Open Road,’ a collection of tracks that captures Mize’s nothing-to-lose spirit as he embraces uncertainty and finds appreciation in life’s twists, turns and open horizons.
“There have been moments where I honestly questioned, or even felt kind of ‘silly’ continuing as an artist,” said Mize. “I wanted my music to be heard, but I also found myself wanting to skate by unnoticed. I started feeling insecure, second-guessing what I’ve devoted so much of my life to, and wondering if I’d lost touch with the optimistic dreamer who once believed anything was possible. I asked myself, ‘What am I hiding from?’ That question opened something up. I leaned into that vulnerability, and the creative spark took hold. Nineteen years into this journey, and I’ve never been more excited to kick into high gear with this new adventure.”
Open Road brings together a powerhouse lineup of collaborators, including renowned hitmaker and producer Randy Montana (Luke Combs, Riley Green, Parker McCollum), along with Priscilla Block on “I Know What You Did Last Summer with Priscilla Block” and Cyndi Thomson on “Matters Of The Heart with Cydni Thomson.” Additional songwriting heavyweights featured on Open Road include Rodney Clawson (George Strait, Jason Aldean), Scooter Carouse (Kenny Chesney, Brett Eldredge), Tony Lane (Cody Johnson), John Pierce (Morgan Wallen, Zac Brown Band), Kyle Sturrock (Blake Shelton, Chris Young) and more.
