July 23, 2024 - Today, LP Giobbi — jazz-trained pianist and DJ Magazine’s Producer of the Year for 2023 — releases the latest single from her sophomore LP, Dotr, to be released October 18 on Ninja Tune’s imprint Counter Records. With her classical instrumental training on full display, “So Nice To Be In Love” — with Mascolo, who recently signed to LP’s imprint Yes Yes Yes — melds electrifying piano riffs with bright, bouncy melodies and tropical bass lines.

“'So Nice To Be In Love' was recorded over a couple of cold days this past winter — LP & I had been sending different parts back and forth and right after that vocal melody and that dramatic piano intro landed,” Says Mascolo on making the track.”“We were both hooked. The track was the perfect juxtaposition to the mood, it's light and playful, and brought us to a lil dance party in a different world.”

The much anticipated follow up to 2023 breakout, Light Places — the album that earned her the title of DJ Mag’s Producer of the Year for 2023 and placed her among NPR’s Favorite New Musicians of 2023 — Dotr is named for the way LP Giobbi signed notes to her parents as a kid. Built around a triage of grief, Dotr was written in the wake of the loss of three matriarchal figures in Giobbi’s life: Patricia Lynn, her mother-in-law, Carolyn Horn, her piano teacher since second grade, and Suse Millman, a longtime friend of her parents and the only professional artist she knew as a child. Built from raw, candid recordings from these friends and mentors, in addition to vocal lines from peers and heroes — including Portugal. The Man, Alabama Shakes, Panama, Danielle Ponder, and more — and warm, rich melodies, Dotr is a joyous project that overcomes sadness through the exaltant revelation of what it means to live.

Previously released tracks from Dotr include “Feel (ft. Jacob Banks)”, which was praised by Billboard for “building to a kind of serenely dancing with your eyes closed kind of place,” and “Bittersweet (ft. Portugal. the Man)”, which FLOODdeemed “a disco infused cut… that gives a melodic rush” and Grimy Goods named one of the top 5 songs of the summer.

LP Giobbi has graced massive festival stages — Coachella, Tomorrowland, Electric Forest, Lollapalooza, Kappa Futur, plus Arc Music Festival, Lost Village, Portola appearances set for later this year — and crowded club floors while touring with the likes of Mochakk, DJ Tennis, John Summit, Diplo, Dead & Co, Black Coffee, and frequent collaborator Sofi Tukker. She recently announced a string of dates for this fall, including shows at LA’s Fonda TheatreDenver's Mission Ballroom, and NYC’s Great Hall, full dates below.

LP Giobbi is also a major voice in the world of inclusion and equity in the electronic world with her 501(c)(3) nonprofit FEMME HOUSE. Since launching in 2019, FEMME HOUSE has provided thousands of female and gender expansive individuals access to production workshops, online courses, and scholarship programs to counteract gender disparities in dance music, where women make up only two percent of producers. The organization has previously joined forces with Alicia Keys’ She Is the Music and Emily Lazar’s We Are Moving the Needle.
