Lucy Wainwright Roche has released “Soft Line,” the latest offering from her recently announced new album ‘Little Beast,’ out October 12th on her own label. “Soft Line” is a wrenching plea to a lost love as it slips away, a dagger to the heart and the most haunting track on the album. The song arrives with an accompanying video, which shows Lucy recording in a gorgeous rural studio. Listen/watch here and feel free to share: https://youtu.be/mcBL6siWgDY

Popmatters praised "Soft Line's" "delicate acoustic guitar lines" saying Lucy provides "a sense of resolve rather than resignation, a sense of escape from the kind of pain that can feel inescapable." Co-produced by Lucy herself and Indigo Girls producer Jordan Brooke Hamlin, ‘Little Beast’ is an urgent and poetic call to a world gone awry. It’s a sure-footed and powerful statement from Lucy, the highlights of which include lead single “Heroin,” a confessional tribute to the tough parts of love. “Quit With Me” is a quietly stirring duet with Matthew Perryman Jones about recognizing when a relationship must end, and title track “Little Beast” speaks to the demons that live inside all of us and rears its ugly head when we least expect it, no matter how hard we try to suppress.

‘Little Beast’ has earned early praise from from Paste, who called “Heroin” “sonically hearty” and “lyrically creative,” praising Lucy’s style by saying her “ability to manage simplicity in a sad song is what makes it most impressive and effective.”

Having grown up in a musical family, Lucy has been perfecting her craft her entire life. The daughter of Suzzy Roche (The Roches) and Loudon Wainwright III, half sibling to Rufus and Martha, Lucy stands alone as an artist in her own right with her distinctive bell tone voice, her unshakable melodies, and her knack for wise, wry lyrics that clench the heart.

Lucy has earned praise from NPR, the Guardian and the BBC, who called her “coy, introspective” and “alluring,” declaring, “she has charm in abundance.” She’s toured with artists like Neko Case and Mary Chapin Carpenter, and she’ll hit the road later this summer and into the fall, she’ll play dates with Rufus, the Indigo Girls and Dar Williams.
