This summer, the digital fan engagement platform Mandolin launched Fan Navigator - the music industry’s first all-in-one data unification and recommendation platform, empowering artists to use their data to optimize marketing and engagement efforts. Now, Mandolin (Fast Company’s #1 Most Innovative Music Company for 2022) has added three new features to Fan Navigator, giving artists an even more comprehensive view of their fanbase and allowing them to group fans into actionable segments for hyper-focused campaigns.
The new features are led by the Fan Score algorithm, which gives artists the ability to accurately predict individuals' level of fandom within their database, taking the guesswork out of building fandoms.
It works by utilizing artist, third-party A&R data and ecommerce data to rank and categorize fans into a phase of fandom based on intent signals. After the algorithm assigns scores for each category, each individual fan gets a cumulative Fan Score and is automatically assigned a fandom lifecycle stage: Super Fans, Growing Fans, Idle Fans and Potential Fans. The algorithm updates these scores daily based on how recently and frequently that individual interacts with the given artists’ content and/or merch.
Building off of the power of Fan Score is Audience Builder, which allows artists to use Fan Scores (among several other variables and demographics) to create hyper-targeted lists for a campaign. For example: want to target “super-fans” within 90 miles of New York who have bought a specific merch item as well as a tour ticket? You can build an audience for that.
Additionally, four new integrations have also been added which allow artists to incorporate even more marketing and merch data that they can use to better understand their fans and how to reach them: Klaviyo, HubSpot, Ambient Inks, and Hello Merch.
