Marcus Roberts Debuts Concerto Commissioned By Seiji Ozawa, "Rhapsody in D," on August 28

In Honor Of The Conventions, Listen to Musical Portraits of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton

Jazz pianist Marcus Roberts will be premiering "Rhapsody in D" at the Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival on August 28, 2016. The world premiere piece, commissioned by the maestro Ozawa, was composed as a celebration of Gershwin's influential piano and orchestra pieces "Rhapsody in Blue" and "Concerto in F." Roberts is making his fifth appearance at the festival and, along with premiering "Rhapsody in D," The Marcus Roberts Trio will perform Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" with Ozawa and the Saito Kinen Orchestra.

As the Presidential campaign enters its most heated phase, The Marcus Roberts Quintet's 'Race for the White House' EP is more relevant than ever. The 4-song EP was inspired by Presidential candidates and their personalities, receiving praise from The New Yorker, NPR, The Atlantic, Newsweek, and more. With the race now down to two candidates, it is the perfect time to revisit Roberts' musical portraits of Trump and Clinton.
