Maren Morris scores first No. 1 country single with "I Could Use a Love Song"

Big Yellow Dog Music songwriter Maren Morris' "I Could Use a Love Song" tops both Billboard's Country Airplay and the Mediabase Country charts this week, giving the GRAMMY-winning artist the first No. 1 single of her career. "I Could Use a Love Song" was written with Jimmy Robbins and Laura Veltz.

Morris signed with Big Yellow Dog Music in 2015 and has enjoyed success as both a Big Yellow Dog Music writer and as an artist for Columbia Records. She also co-wrote her previous hits "My Church" and "80s Mercedes." Her debut album, 'Hero,' reached No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart in 2016.

"I Could Use a Love Song" is up for Best Country Solo Performance at The 60th Annual GRAMMY Awards, to be handed out January 28. Morris won the GRAMMY in that category last year for "My Church."

"I took a picture of Maren standing on the Santa Monica pier after she wrote 'My Church'; the wind was blowing her hair, and she was standing on a star carved into the pier," says Big Yellow Dog Music co-owner Carla Wallace. "Such a long journey from that picture to today, but I'd say she's standing right where she should be, at Number One. Congratulations from all of us at Big Yellow Dog Music!"
