Matt Simons releases acoustic rendition of his new single "We Can Do Better"

To play Northside Festival AWAL Showcase on June 8 at Baby's All Right

Matt Simons releases acoustic rendition of his new single We Can Do Better

(New York, NY): Brooklyn-based pop prodigy Matt Simons believes that, despite the day-to-day violence and cruelty that plays out in our iPhone notifications and on our TV screens, that

we can do better. He announced this conviction with his infectiously optimistic horn and keyboard filled anthem, "We Can Do Better," this April, which, in just seven weeks has already accrued over 10 million streams on Spotify.

Today, he has released a feather-light, acoustic version of the shimmering, hook-filled track. The stark, stripped-down rendition only emphasizes the sincerity of his unyielding belief in our humanity, and capacity to grow and change.

The singer-songwriter's lush sound, buoyed with virtuosic piano and guitar playing, finds blissful middle ground between the golden-age pop magic of Ed Sheeran and George Ezra, and the articulate vignettes-style lyricism of James Bay, Hozier and Leon Bridges.

Watch the "We Can Do Better" music video, starring a cast of kids that embody why Simons is so confident in his optimism.

Simons spent 2017 writing and recording, and will release new music in 2018.

On Friday, June 8, he will perform at the Northside Festival's AWAL NYC Summer Party at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn alongside Dizzy Fae, Otzeki, Weslee and Janelle Kroll, and tour in Europe this Fall.

ABOUT MATT SIMONS:

Matt Simons grew up in Palo Alto, California studying classical piano, guitar, clarinet and saxophone, obsessed with jazz music and performance -- a traditional training that shows in his classical song structures and hook-filled harmonies. After earning a degree in Jazz Saxophone performance from The Purchase College Conservatory, Simons released his debut album, 'Pieces' independently on the internet and began playing shows in New York City and Europe.

His sound struck a chord overseas, and he found himself with a rapidly growing fanbase in the Netherlands when his single "With You" was selected as the theme song as Dutch soap television series 'Goede Tijden, Slechte Tijden' and he appeared as a guest judge on the Dutch X-Factor. "With You" landed in the top 30 best-selling songs of 2013 in the Netherlands, outselling other hit singles like The Lumineers' 'Ho Hey' and Katy Perry's 'Roar.'

Matt's greatest commercial success was yet to come on his sophomore album Catch & Release. The title track, "Catch & Release" and its Deepend Remix became a runaway international smash, amassing over 200 million-plus Spotify streams and counting, while the remixed version soared to #1 on HypeMachine twice. Stateside, the single went Top 5 at AAA radio and Billboard pegged it as one of "Tomorrow's Hits." Globally, it clinched #1 in 7 countries including France, Germany, Belgium, and Spain, reaching platinum in Germany, Belgium, Holland & Switzerland, and gold certifications in Italy, Sweden, Brazil & South Africa. Sold out tours followed as well as festival appearances including Pinkpop and Frequency.

Stay tuned for much more from Matt Simons this year...
