Matteo Bocelli Honors His Roots With New Single

FRIDAY, AUGUST 8 – Today, international recording artist Matteo Bocelli released, “Mi Historia Entre Tus Dedosi,” a brand-new duet with legendary Italian performer Gianluca Grignani. This reimagination of Grignani’s 1995 chart-topping hit arrives as a heartfelt celebration of Bocelli’s Italian roots, ahead of his eagerly-anticipated sophomore album, Falling In Love, set for release on September 12 via Decca Records.

That same spirit of heritage runs through Bocelli’s entire album, Falling in Love, which was recorded in his hometown of Tuscany with producer Martin Terefe (Shawn Mendes, Jason Mraz) and a world-class ensemble. The album connects Matteo with his roots while also capturing the spirit of timeless romance. Falling in Love marks a new era for Matteo, blending his classical, Italian heritage with modern pop for a taste of ‘la dolce vita’ - the album is steeped in the romance and elegance only Italy can inspire. Matteo co-wrote all of the album’s original songs, collaborating with acclaimed songwriters including Terefe, Toby Gad (Beyoncé, John Legend), Iain Archer (Snow Patrol), and Johan Carlsson (Ariana Grande). The result is a collection of songs that explores love, vulnerability, and connection, all while showcasing his skill not only as a vocalist but also as a pianist and musician.

This collaboration is more than a meeting of two musical generations – it is a reflection of the culture and artistry that has shaped his identity. Bocelli reached out to Grignani earlier this year to personally request permission to record a cover of the song, which is beloved to this day and often covered by artists; though none in which Grignani has also duetted on.

"This kid has a truth in his voice. A talent that can't be taught. When he wrote to tell me he wanted to record one of my songs, I smiled. And when he invited me to go on stage with him, at the Teatro del Silenzio, to sing it together... Well, there I couldn't say no.” Gianluca Grignani shares. “I would never have shown myself before the release of my new record. But this...this is one of those exceptions that brings you back to why you make music.”

Matteo and Gianluca debuted the duet live for the first time last month during a milestone performance at Tuscany’s Teatro del Silenzio—an annual concert series founded by Matteo’s father, opera icon Andrea Bocelli. Matteo’s appearance marked his first solo headlining performance at the storied venue, adding extra resonance to an already historic night.
