Melissa Etheridge releases Stax tribute record 'MEmphis Rock and Soul' following appearances on the Today Show, Colbert, and more

(New York, NY) - Today, Melissa Etheridge releases her new album 'MEmphis Rock and Soul' on Stax/Concord. It's a tribute to Memphis's legendary Stax Records, featuring deep soul covers associated with the original Stax label, including songs recorded by Otis Redding, Rufus Thomas, The Staple Singers, William Bell and more.

The album's release comes on the heels of a busy week for Melissa, which included TV appearances on the Today Show, the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Live With Kelly, and Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Watch the performances below.

The album has already earned raves from Rolling Stone and American Songwriter, who said, "[Melissa's] naturally boisterous grits and gravy approach is perfectly suited to tackle songs from the similarly styled vocals of Otis Redding, Sam & Dave, Albert King etc. and she sure has the attitude to blow some new life into the...established classics she interprets here," calling the album "unforgettable" and a "consistently enjoyable foray that never feels forced or plastic."
