LOS ANGELES, Calif. (October 18, 2021) — Inspiring advocate/singer-songwriter and producer MILCK released her cover of U2’s classic hit “One” earlier this month with producer AG (Adrianne Gonzalez), celebrating the song’s upcoming 30th anniversary. The song will be featured on the recently announced 7-song EP U2 Reimagined, produced by AG and performed by a diverse group of all-female artists. Today, MILCK shares music video to accompany the new single, directed by Pasha Poosh, featuring improvisations by dancers Matthew “ET” Gibbs and Kylie Shea, who also co-directed the production. Stream “One” here, and watch the stunning new music video here.

“Dancers that dance at this level of athleticism and artistic sensibility are channeling truth through their bodies,” shared MILCK. “Watching Kylie and ET’s improv together reminds me that when we dare to invite others in on our artistic process, we have the opportunity to access a divine storytelling power that transcends words. I hope that when people watch this video, they can feel a sense of catharsis. I then hope that ease of tension will inspire the viewer to contemplate on how they can get creative and curious about participating in the journey of racial healing.”

Poosh adds, “We did this in one shot and it was the very first take. The fact that Kylie and Matthew hadn’t danced together in such a fully improvised manner in years is a testament to their dedication and years of training. The way they intuitively react to each other and the music is very rare and the zenith of my attainment when filming dancers.”

Proceeds from AG and MILCK’s thought-provoking rendition of “One” will benefit MILCK’s Somebody’s Beloved Fund which generates resources through song proceeds from her singles including “Somebody’s Beloved,” “I Belong” and now adding to it, the new single “One.”

Through song proceeds, brand partnerships, merchandise proceeds, and public donations, the Somebody’s Beloved Fund has directly contributed over $86,000 to its ten beneficiary organizations and has helped to facilitate the donation of nearly $100,000 of essential product, pantry items and PPE including supplies and grant funding generously provided by Procter & Gamble (P&G). In addition to generating resources for the Somebody’s Beloved Fund beneficiaries, MILCK and her team are also raising funds to create, co-create with and invest in artists to produce social justice focused work.

“I am so proud for this official music video to be the first project where my team and I utilize The Somebody Beloved Project to garner grant funds that we use to invest in artists who want to co-create art with us, in the name of racial healing and celebrating our universal humanity,” explains MILCK. “Our hope is that the dance will move people to go to somebodysbeloved.com, and to learn about the 10 grassroots organizations that are working tirelessly to build power around racial justice and healing as well as be inspired to join us and create their own art.”

“I love that AG is leading a bunch of women into reimagining these classics. The concept is very fitting because I remember Bono saying at a 2017 concert that the world is in need of change, and ‘women are going to light the way’,” says MILCK.

MILCK aims to create such change through an intersectional lens of Feminism, Black-Asian Solidarity, AAPI Support, LGBTQ Rights, Criminal Justice Reform, and Mental Health. For more information, please visit SomebodysBeloved.com.
