April 24, 2024 — In today's fast-paced, overstimulated world, many of us find ourselves constantly bombarded by deadlines, information overload, and day-to-day anxieties and stresses. This constant state of fight-or-flight can wreak havoc on our breathing patterns - instead of deep, diaphragmatic breaths that fill our lungs fully, we resort to shallow, rapid chest breaths. This shallow breathing can deprive our bodies of the oxygen they need to function optimally, leaving us feeling drained, tense, and foggy-headed.

However, there's a simple, accessible solution: breathwork. On May 1 in time for Mental Health Awareness Month, Grammy Award-winning musician and leading breathwork practitioner Peter Kater is releasing Spiritus, which will be available across all major streaming platforms here. The 5, 10, and 15-minute breathwork exercises are designed to help anyone, no matter how busy. This practice requires no prior experience and can easily be woven into your daily routine, allowing you to tap into your inner peace, source of energy and unlock your full potential one breath at a time. Watch a video preview here.

With this, Kater is also running a free group breathwork session on Instagram Live on Saturday, May 25 @ 11am PT. Follow Peter here for more details.

Kater comments on the launch: “After decades of exploring multitudes of healing and wellness techniques, modalities and disciplines from meditation to chanting, yoga, fasting and various physiological, psychological and emotional therapies, I've found Breathwork to be the quickest and most direct access to our own deep innate wisdom, guidance and self-regulating and healing abilities.”

The science is there to support this with sources such as Frontiers in Psychology citing that “a growing number of empirical studies have revealed that diaphragmatic breathing may trigger body relaxation responses and benefit both physical and mental health.”

Spiritus embodies Kater's belief that every breath is a new beginning. With this experience, listeners have the potential to harness the power of their own breath to unlock a deeper level of relaxation, clarity, and deep healing, whilst embarking on a transformative journey of self-discovery. Kater's comforting voice guides listeners through three distinct circular breathing sequences, creating a rhythmic current underscored by a captivating soundscape composed by Kater.

The rising popularity of wellness music, backed by scientific evidence of its therapeutic effects, speaks to a growing recognition of the true power of music. Kater is part of the Real Music record label family, who are a leader in this space. Real Music’s ethos is deeply rooted in the belief that the power of real music, by real artists can have a real impact in people’s lives, whether that be to foster focus, deep relaxation, mindfulness or inner peace.
