Today (2.24), Muscadine Bloodline – country music’s leading independent duo of Charlie Muncaster and Gary Stanton – shares Teenage Dixie, a love letter to their youth and the American South. The 16-track project showcases the duo as critical songwriters, highlighting their unmistakable sound and relatable-heartfelt storytelling that has earned them an audience that rivals Nashville’s heavyweights and more than 500M combined US streams.
Chocked full of stories of family, history, rollicking adolescence, and foot-stomping banjo licks and electric riffs, the album illustrates soundscapes and characters set to the backdrop of their upbringing in rural Alabama. Painted with imagery that one can only stumble upon by growing up in the “Deep South," the project is a take on what “dixie” means for two men who grew up in the thick of it. Themes of small-town southern staples are woven throughout – from azalea blooms, high school state championship games, a fishing trip down the Alabama River, and even a sequel to “The Devil Went Down to Georgia.”
Muncaster and Stanton co-wrote the project, alongside a tight-knit group of collaborators including their producer Brent Cobb, BJ Barham (American Aquarium), and Adam Hood (Randy Rogers, Miranda Lambert). The album’s early singles – including the nostalgic title track, the blues-soaked breakup ballad “Made Her That Way,” “the unstoppable force of a song” (Billboard) “Me On You” – have already amassed 60M+streams.
Teenage Dixie follows a monumental 2022 for the duo, who reached 2M monthly Spotify listeners, charted on three separate Billboard charts, and played 70+ shows in six months – all completely independent. In February 2022, they released their sophomore album Dispatch to 16th Ave, which debuted at No. 1 on the iTunes Country Chart, hit No. 4 on the iTunes All Genre Chart, and peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard Chart. Plus their breakout single “Porch Swing Angel” recently earned an RIAA Gold certification.
The duo is currently on their “Me On You” tour, where they continue to play sold-out rooms across the country. They’ll also join Eric Church and Turnpike Troubadours for select shows – see their full tour schedule below with more shows being announced soon.
