"Musical Genius" (Nylon) Hot Sugar Releases Debut LP 'God's Hand' This Week Via Break World Records

Buzzfeed Premieres new video "Sinkies" Ahead Of SXSW Film Festival Premiere Of "Hot Sugar's Cold World"

This week, Hot Sugar (aka Nick Koenig) released his "beautiful" and "lushly surprising" (Okay Player) debut LP, 'God's Hand,' ahead of the world premiere of "Hot Sugar's Cold World" at the SXSW Film Festival. The documentary, produced by the creators of 'Eastbound & Down,' focuses on Koenig's exploration of "associative music," a production style using field recordings to create samples and build songs. It features collaborations with Jim Jarmusch, Martin Starr, Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson, and members of Das Racist.

Koenig's unique production style has spawned features in Wired and Vice Noisey, and NYLON recently selected Hot Sugar as their latest 'band crush,' calling him a "musical genius." Both the Wall Street Journal and Billboard have hailed his contributions to Comedy Central's 'Broad City,' and today, BuzzFeed released Koenig's new video for "Sinkies," calling it "a warped and weird drug-fueled trip down a wormhole." The album follows the debut of Hot Sugar's immersive new live show, which Koenig just premiered to a packed Santos Party House with iLoveMakonnen notably in attendance. The live show syncs the 15 songs of 'God's Hand' with illuminating crystals and striking CGI-infused visuals, creating a fully immersive experience. Hot Sugar will bring his live show to SWSW in March, with additional details to follow.
