Nashville author Matt Urmy has released his new book, Go Ask The Moon, a story about learning where to look for what is unique about ourselves. Inspired by his work in childcare, as well as his own journey as the father of two sons, Go Ask The Moon follows its non-binary protagonist Hoo, as they embark on a nighttime journey to discover what makes them special. The warm tale sees little Hoo encounter various creatures of the night, as they search for the peace of a good night's sleep and finding their passion.

Though the book and the illustrations were originally created by the author Matt Urmy, Urmy also collaborated with the Argentinian studio, Solid Ghost Studio, to transform his sketches into the final rendering of the book using a mix of digital photography and watercolor painting.
“Self-discovery is a journey everyone must make, sometimes more than once, which is why this book was written for all kids from ages 1 to 92,” says Urmy.
Go Ask The Moon is Urmy’s third book and follows his two collections of poems, Ghosts In A House (2007) and The Rain In The Bell (2015), which renowned poet Marilyn Kallet (best known for her poem How Our Bodies Learned) called it “a quiet revelation...Matt Urmy sings mysteries without trying to explain, celebrating the astonishment that poetry patiently builds.”
Also an accomplished songwriter, Urmy will release his new studio album ‘South of the Sky - a concept album exploring, and celebrating, the multitudes of human life and the enigma of time - next year on January 15. The music is a mix of strong melodies and spoken-word poetry revitalized to speak to today’s world, to address what unites us: the inevitability of coming to grips with our place in society, politics, relationships (with others and ourselves), and spirituality.
