Nattali Rize Brings Higher Consciousness To Debut EP ‘New Era Frequency’ Out August 7

Nattali Rize, the global frontwoman of renowned Australian roots powerhouse band Blue King Brown, announces her epic new solo project. She has enlisted the talents of Kingston, Jamaica-based drum'n'bass duo 'Notis' for her solo debut EP 'New Era Frequency' (out 8/07). To coincide with the release, Nattali has been performing her new material on a US tour that has seen stops at Wakarusa Music Festival, Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Electric Forest Festival and multiple dates opening for Michael Franti and Spearhead.

After two weeks back in the studio in Jamaica, Nattali returns to the road with a "charismatic live show that oozes positive vibes (Oxford Karma)", joining New Zealand-based group Katchafire for a 10-date West Coast tour kicking off July 15 in San Luis Obispo, CA, as well as a performance at Gathering of the Vibes.

Dubbed "one of the nation's most refreshing voices" by Rolling Stone Australia, Nattali Rize imbues the global consciousness and energy of reggae with a distinct lyricism and vocal prowess. On 'New Era Frequency', written and recorded in Kingston and Melbourne, themes of consciousness and empowerment go hand-in-hand. . The songs here are brimming with defiance and heart, from driving battle cries like "Heart of a Lion" to "Generations Will Rize (feat. Kabaka Pyramid)", a song Yahoo! Music predicts will "inspire and empower" youth. Listen here. Triumphant declarations like "New Reality" are matched in passion on tracks like "Midnight Remedy", an ode to Nattali's medicine of choice that inspired High Times to "light up and listen!"

"Rebel Love (feat. Zuggu Dan)", the album's first single, was written the first night Nattali Rize and Notis met in Australia, where Notis was on tour with renowned reggae musician Jimmy Cliff. Nattali and Notis collaborate with a number of artists on the record, including Zuggu Dan, the guitarist of Jamaican singer-songwriter Protoje, and influential Kingston-based MC Kabaka Pyramid.

Finding initial success from her work with Blue King Brown, Nattali Rize has toured and opened for the likes of Santana, Damian Marley, Dispatch and the John Butler Trio, among many others. From a childhood of playing guitar and absorbing the musical wisdom found within her mother's record collection (a mix of 12 bar blues, Bob Marley, Janis Joplin and big band music), to her roots as a percussionist and street musician, Nattali has never been afraid to experiment.

"For me it's not just about playing music that sounds nice. It's not just for fun: it's about being part of a movement, shifting perception and helping to amplify pathways to higher consciousness. Music is a powerful force toward this realization when used in such a way..."
