Nilüfer Yanya, 22-year-old London "pop polymath" (Stereogum), just wrapped a breakout ten-performance SXSW debut where she was both an NPR Music "Austin 100" artist and an All Songs Considered "discovery." In May, she returns to the US for a performance at the prestigious FORM: Arcosanti Festival in Arizona, followed by North American tour dates with Fleet Foxes and a Pitchfork Festival appearance in July.
Watch her Pitchfork’s “Juan’s Basement” performance.
Since making her US performance debut with headlining one-off LA and NYC dates in 2017, Nilüfer’s "brilliantly nonchalant" (Pitchfork) guitar sound and "devastating" hooks (The New York Times) have made her one of the most in-demand young names in contemporary music. A BBC "Sound of 2018" artist and NPR Music "Slingshot" artist, her jazzy-noir voice and Jeff Buckley-esque chords have won her praise from Pitchfork (three "best new tracks" and counting), The FADER, Paper, Nylon, The New Yorker, and more.
Watch the retro, cult-inspired new video for "Thanks 4 Nothing".
At her festival and Fleet Foxes dates, Nilüfer will perform the songs from the 'Do You Like Pain?' EP (her first-ever US physical release) as well as older and unreleased material with singular presence, dry wit, and "effortlessly smooth" (The FADER) confidence. Full routing below.
